Tash,
She is holding her own. Her new medication seems to be helping as are the IV fluids three times a week to supplement her advanced kidney disease issues.
Ultimately, her kidney disease is so advanced that she was basically sent home to end her days…whenever she decides it is time. She is 14 years, 4 months old, so she is a very senior citizen. We are in what I call “hospice care” time. Her local Vet is very good and is keeping a very good eye on how she is doing. When the time comes, she will cross here at home surrounded by her physical and spiritual family.
She is so brave. Roscoe stays with all the time now, which is another indicator that she is not doing well. I am preparing her to cross as well…but when that happens is up to her.
She thanks you for thinking about her…and sent you this:

Shadow will cross the Rainbow Bridge sometime Thursday afternoon at home surrounded by her family.
Roscoe and I will escort her home.
She has continued to deteriorate steadily and is now on stronger pain medication.
I emailed Her Vet what has been going on with Her the last few days and she emailed back that she was crying as she was reading the email. We are blessed to have such a gentle and fine Doctor for Her…and one that is willing to come to the house to allow Her to cross at home.
In the meantime, I have about 48 hours to shower her with love.

Shadow Doxie crossed the Rainbow Bridge about an hour ago. She was very brave. She made her crossing just fine. Roscoe and I escorted her home.
I have seen her running with him in the field of flowers, happy, well, and young again…which makes my soul sing.
While my heart aches, it also knows she is not suffering anymore.
We both thank all of you for the support and love you have shown both of us during this yearlong ordeal.
She crossed just a year and 2 days after her buddy Roscoe.

Diana, You are going to have a pack meeting you on the Rainbow Bridge.Through the yrs I have grieved each friend's passing from my sight in this World so hard that I could scarcely open my heart for another until yrs had passed. Knowing that they will be waiting at The Rainbow Bridge makes it much easier to consider looking for another dog friend when my own 2 dear ones pass. What a Blessing to still visit them once they have passed from this place.
