D,

I think that in this fast paced world people tend to roll right over you. We all need to take a step back and find the time to listen to who's speaking to us. To really take the time to listen and extend a hand to any one who asks for help.

Tash,

Yes, having compassion is the foundation.  You cannot have love with having compassion first.  Love is one aspect of compassion.  It is not the other way around.

People tend to throw the words “love and light” out a lot as if that is all they need to do.  Yet these same people are not showing compassion to those in need and there are a lot of people that need compassion and help right now.  When a person in need feels no compassion from others, it throws them down into despair.

Most often being compassionate requires that we give of ourselves in a physical manner, whether it is doing volunteer work or simply supporting an organization that does.  It is easy to give money.  It is hard to give one's time.

Generally, the young are not being taught the concept of compassion.  They are being taught this by some wise parents.  But more often, they are taught to think of how everything impacts them first and are not taught to view things in a wider scope.

These young people will grow up selfish with a feeling of entitlement that will be their downfall…and the downfall of the Human species on this planet.

Before love comes compassion, not the other way around.  Compassion is the foundation, not love.

15 August 2011 – Conversations with Diana on Compassion; what it is and what it is not:
http://mp3s.beyondvibration.org/2011-08-16-Compassion-by-Diana-Roth.mp3

Diana and I did an audio interview today on Compassion.  I hope that the audio quality is good enough to hear it.  If not we can record it again.  Let me know if the quality is too rough.

[Webmaster note:  For some yet unknown reason some videos are not playing properly in Google Chrome.  I think that the issue is that the videos that work are smaller than 4Mb and the ones that don't work are larger than 4Mb, so perhaps Google Chrome has a size restriction on mp3 files to play???  If anyone knows about this, please contact me.  Until I fix this issue, if you are using Google Chrome you will need to “Right-click” on the links for the following videos and choose “Save link as…” option to download the mp3's to your computer.  They will not play properly if you just “Left-click” on them.  We are sorry for the inconvenience, but they do work if you download them and play them from your hard drive.  It appears that they are working fine in Firefox, InternetExplorer and Safari.]

Enjoy,

Mark

Please let us know if this audio is too hard to understand and we will record it again.

Sometimes Skype gives us fits when we are working between the US and Australia in that the connection is not as good as it should be.

Just post it here and we will see it.

Thanks….

Kiss

I just handed off a cedar staff and a few small crystals to go on it for someone I heard of through a friend..he has been very ill for very long and was bitter about..He was the one who could not stop laughing one intense energy day.

Since that day he has been writing to  apologize for himself to the many folks in his life he has been harsh with..And collecting rocks for a staff. He keeps seeing a fellow with one when he is out and about shopping and such..

When I was so ill I wanted a staff covered in stones and crystals to help me. I never made one so it pleases me to be able to provide a strong cedar staff from the trees in this forest and a few small crystals to start.

His hands work very well, he he should have some fun making his staff.Cool

Diana,

This has been a complex issue for me. Over the years, I've completely exhausted myself giving my time and attention to others. Now I know that I had poor boundaries but at the time I really thought I was being compassionate. And people would say that giving and helping will give me energy so I won't get tired, it will feed me. I ended up in a very difficult place because of this.

DP,

This is were your boundaries are so important.  Help others, but don't take their problems into your soul because you then deny them the necessary movement to learn their soul lessons themselves.  It can be hard, but remember that you are merely offering assistance at a time they need it…not doing the actual work for them.  Empowering them to do their own work is the greatest compassion you give to another soul because you have helped them grow.  Also, remember that you can't help everyone no matter how hard you try.  Sometimes you just have to let it go.

Use the “hollow tube” when you are doing this.

D,

There's so much misconception about this, isn't there. Sigh. Thanks so much for your insight.

DP,

Yes, there is.  It is a fine line.  But once you understand it, it becomes much easier to help others.

You are doing fine.

DP,

Remember that giving someone some physical support such as helping them go to appts., helping them shop, etc. are great gifts of compassion and often are what is needed the most.

These are assistance of a physical nature and don't make you feel that you need to take anything from them.

D,

That's so true! It reminds me that even when it comes to helping the Earth and other species, one of the most satisfying activities for me (as a conservation volunteer) has been picking up trash along the river. It's simple and direct. Smile

Sounds familiar.  I've got someone in my life who chooses to be a negative victim.  He doesn't know he's doing it, but it's almost like he looks forward to the opportunity to be miserable.  I finally had to just cut the cords on him about two years ago.  I wasn't helping him, and I was harming myself by trying.  Frown

/hugs for all.  :)

Dax,

Good for you for recognizing that.
